The livelihoods of the religious men (monks and nuns) depend on laypeople, have to deal and interact with them. When it comes to such close relationships, sometimes there are problems and disagreements. These go hand in hand with problem-solving and interdisciplinary techniques. Here as a mentor, the monk admonishes the layperson doing something wrong or inappropriate and instructs to do good and to stop doing bad. In the same way, the layperson sometimes sees the mentor doing something wrong or inappropriate. Then as a good layperson, he directly or indirectly does something to stop the mentor monk from doing the wrong thing and to correct his mistake. It is not uncommon for a monk who is more virtuous and wiser than a layperson to discipline him for his misconduct. But it is even more interesting to see how the layperson points out and warns the mentor monk with great morals and wisdom when he does something wrong. These points will be examined and presented under the heading “Mutual Control System in Sayar-Dakar relationship: Buddhist Perspective”, citing evidence from the Piṭaka Pāḷi and other Buddhist scriptures. As mentioned above, this research will cover two sections: (1) how a mentor monk admonishes a layperson and (2) how a layperson points out his mentor monk’s mistake and warms him, but this paper focuses on a more interesting second.
