This study examines the mental and physical changes gained from Mahasi Vipassana meditation. It highlights how practical experience (Paṭipatti) is just as vital as studying Buddhist literature (Pariyatti). Often, relying only on theory leaves individuals unequipped to handle daily stress and emotional challenges. Using a participant observation approach, the researcher spent one month in an intensive meditation retreat, collecting data through personal practice, daily journaling, and brief interviews with fellow meditators. The findings reveal a clear progression: initial struggles with physical pain and mental anxiety during the first week transformed into deep concentration (Samādhi) and emotional stability by the second week. This process fostered a deep psychological shift, replacing quick anger with greater patience (Khanti) and physical vitality. Ultimately, integrating mindfulness into daily monastic life and the wider community supports overall well-being. This study demonstrates that true peace comes from direct practice rather than textual study alone.
