- Abstract
-
In 2020, Myanmar government arranged to implement the teaching of a sex education course in the next academic year. It became a case of controversy between supporters and opponents. Some political parties and some Buddhist monks denied the implementation of sex education in Myanmar. On the other hand, some doctors agreed and encouraged the teaching of sex education. The doctors explained that most people oppose sex education because they misunderstand its definition and importance. Currently, it is essential to conduct research on whether Myanmar truly requires sex education and if it conflicts with Buddhism. Therefore, this paper attempts to state the correct meaning of sex education and to criticize its importance in Myanmar, and to reveal Buddhist concepts on it, using a qualitative method. It can help people understand the correct definition of sex education and its impact on Myanmar's society.
