This study explores the attitudes of young learners in Mandalay toward individual faiths. It investigates how children and adolescents aged 6 to 18 engage with their religious beliefs in terms of knowledge, practices, and identity formation. The research covers a range of religious backgrounds, including Buddhism, Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, and nonreligious views. Findings reveal that while most students identify with a religion, the depth of their understanding, level of commitment, and religious expression vary significantly across faiths. Buddhist learners, who make up the majority of participants, often lack structured or formal religious education, which may contribute to gaps in knowledge and less consistent engagement with religious practices. In contrast, Christian and Muslim students tend to show stronger commitment, supported by regular rituals, parental involvement, and community-based religious instruction. Hindu and nonreligious students reflect more personal and individual expressions of faith. The study also examines beliefs about the afterlife, frequency of worship, and overall satisfaction with one's religion, all of which appear to be strongly influenced by cultural context and family upbringing. The research highlights the importance of improving religious education—especially among Buddhist youth—and promoting interfaith understanding. Encouraging supportive environments through schools, families, and communities can nurture well-informed, confident, and respectful young individuals in Mandalay’s multi-faith society.
