It is officially acknowledged that there are 135 different ethnic groups in the Republic of the Union of Myanmar. Among these various and diverse ethnic peoples, there is one minority ethnic Khamee group living in Pat-Lat-Wa region of southern Chin and northern Rakhine state. This minority Khamee people have fascinating ancient belief and religious practices. Thorough focus of attentions and objectives for research are: 1. On their belief and worship to the Sun and Moon since pre-historical age, their later belief in the various traditional spirits, and their gradual conversion to Buddhism and a few to Christianity and their general religious and cultural traditions. 2. In the circumstance of no available reference either in Myanmar or English on the history of Khamee people, their religious and cultural customs and traditions, and the gradual development and changes of their religious beliefs and practices to the present moment. Researchers intend to impart those knowledge and information of Khamee people to other ethnic groups of the country and Khamee people themselves. 3. Throughout the research process, one of the interesting changes in the life of Khamee people that researcher came to know is their gradual conversion to Buddhism from their former religious belief in the traditional spirits and some people in Christianity. 4.
