Most of the people in Myanmar take refuge in Theravāda Buddhism, and also Dhanu tribe who live at Shan state in Myanmar take refuge in Theravāda Buddhism. This dissertation presents how Dhanu tribe, from generation to generation, took refuge in Buddhism and expresses how it is developing. This dissertation aims to trace taking refuge to the Buddhism of Dhanu tribe and to know the developments of Dhanu Buddhists. The researcher sets forth the places which can get needed data by interviewing and discussing relevant people. Analyzing, investigation, selections, and evaluation the data that got from it, are done, and these data are expressed as a dissertation. According to this study, humans in the stone age or Neolithic period had settled in the Padalin cave in Ywangan Township where Dhanu tribe lived in the modern time with indication to the records of the Pagoda. Buddhism had already arrived at Dhanu region about the Third century B.C. There is also historical evidence in accordance with the recorded history of Pagoda and history handed down by word of mouth or oral tradition. Because of attempting propagated kings Anoratha, Aloungsithu, and Narapati in Bagan age, Theravāda Buddhism was devolved in the Dhanu region. Furthermore, religious affairs were performed at the Dhanu region in the Inn Wa dyanasty, Taungoo dyanasty, Nungyan dyanasty, Konbaung dyanasty, Colonial period, and Governmental period. Dhanu tribe not only took refuge in the Triple Gem but also observed the teaching of the Buddha. Kon Lon Sayardaw, Tipiṭaka Kanbawza Sayardaw, and other Sayadaw who are Dhanu tribe, appears in the Dhanu region. They are trying hard to propagate Pariyatti and Patipatti Sāsanā. Expressing the above subjects, conclude this abstract of the dissertation.
