The research paper deals with the comparative study of Mandalay Sāsanā Laṅkāra Examination and Pathamapyan Examination. In Myanmar, the two examinations are very important and vital role for Myanmar Buddhist Pariyatti education. Because, if there is no Pariyatti, there would not exist a true and real Theravāda Buddha Sāsanā for a long time. In Myanmar Buddhist Organization, there are some problems concerning with the two examinations. Some monks said that the Mandalay Sāsanā Laṅkāra Examination is the best method to be a Pāḷi educated monk and some monks believe the Pathamapyan Examination is the effective way to be a literate monk and novice. This paper highlights the differences between Pathamapyan examination and Mandalay Sāsanā Laṅkāra examination. In Pariyatti education, nowadays, one can see that the novices of Mandalay Sāsanā Laṅkāra, are famous than Pathamapyan students. Even though Sāsanā Laṅkāra students have not got the degree, they can easily learn and pass the Pathamapyan examination. When differences between these two examinations are studied, the questions form and approach methods to the subjects will be compared. Before the advent of the Sāsanā Laṅkāra examination, ancient monks grew up with the Pathamapyan teaching methods. They were really educated monks and clever at Tipitaka. This fact is important consideration in this case. When the strong and weak points of the two methods are discussed, students' intelligence and effort in learning literatures should be taken account.
