The question of whether Buddhism is defined by the practice of its religious teachings or by the presence of its religious edifices is a significant one, considering its existence. The primary objective of the research is to investigate and explain the Buddhist situation in the historic Bagan region from 2001 to 2020. The objectives of this research is to identify the perspectives of the residents on Buddhism in the area of old Bagan, to evaluate the impact of the efforts of monks in the development of Buddhism on the current generation of Bagan, and to investigate the participation in activities related to the sustainable development of Buddhism in Bagan. The Survey Research Design is used in the design of this research. Simple Random Sampling is used to ascertain the population of 120. Data is collected with a Mixed Method Approach. Data is collected through the use of semi-structured questionnaires. The content analysis is used to discuss the qualitative data, while the statistical analysis is used to analyze the quantitative data. The findings of this study indicate that everyone predicts that religious activities, participation, and preaching to others will be performed in a systematic manner, and that Buddhist buildings in Bagan will be preserved as the iconic heritage of Buddhist culture. Consequently, the monks observed that it is imperative to be attentive to the followers’ desires and cautious in their missionary activities. All Buddhists are cognizant of the factors that enhance the practice of Buddhism.
